Dmoz can help your website to rank twice times higher than your original listing position. Dmoz editors had set up a list of guidelines for webmasters who want to submit their websites to Dmoz. If you fail to follow the
submission guidelines, the editor will decline your site. Therefore, it is important to read the submission guidelines before submitting to Dmoz.

Dmoz has strict site selection criteria. If you want your site to be included in Dmoz, it must have original and unique content. The content must be informational so that it will contribute to the public. If the site content offers contrasting points of view, it will also be accepted. The site should not have mirror content. If it is not included, you can submit it to Dmoz. By doing a search for your site in Dmoz, you help to save the editor’s time. You should identify the most relevant category for your site. Dmoz has lots of categories that suits every niche. If you are unable to find a category, you can suggest a new category. You should manually submit your site to Dmoz. Using auto submission software to submit your site to Dmoz is violating the terms of service.


After you have submitted your site to Dmoz, you will have to wait for some time. You must wait for some time for the editor to review the site. The editor will review all the aspects of the site including design, user friendliness, navigation, and etc. If your site has a nice template, the editor will finish reviewing the site faster. The most important thing is that your site must have something special to offer to the visitors. If the content on your site is similar to other sites that are already listed in Dmoz, the editor won’t include it in the directory.
